it was directed by adam netsky.  i've been friends with him and his older brother josh for a few years now, and i always thought they had a cool thing going on.  josh is a musician, and adam does film stuff, so josh makes songs and adam makes videos for them.  he'll probably hate me for putting it this way, but i've always thought he was kind of a wunderkind or something.  i'm pretty sure he was 15 when i first saw one of his videos, and i couldn't believe it.

i thought it would be fun to make a video, and i knew that like me, adam was used to working on a shoestring budget.  so i sold my shoestrings for 83 cents to a really tall guy on craigslist, called adam up, and asked what he could do with that amount.  he said if i could get myself to rochester he could figure something out.  i tried to haggle him down to 80 cents but he wasn't having it.  so the tall guy from craigslist said he'd give me a ride if i was willing to push the car (he was out of gas), so a few months later i arrived in rochester.

we were going to use the money to buy a brick wall i could stand against and sing wearing a leather jacket, but adam had gotten conned into buying a space bubble, so we had to make the video using that instead.

i also made a video blog talking about the songs and junk. this is my second attempt. the first time i made one really late at night and basically mumbled for 10 minutes about nothing while staring at some point on an off-camera wall that was apparently extremely fascinating to me at the time.  the next morning i drank too much coffee and hit record and chattered for 5 minutes about something while darting my eyes around wildly at microscopic gnats dogfighting with invisible pixies in the air in front of me.  i went with the latter because at least it was shorter.

the ep (and my older eps, trilobite trash, and north south pt. i) are now "pay what you want." so anywhere from zero to infinity is a-ok, but if you can pay something for it know that all the money goes directly to me, and is an enormous help to my ability to continue to release music for you.  i have piles of gratitude just sitting around waiting to be vaporized and wafted at you.

either way, i hope you enjoy it as much as i enjoyed making it.  thanks for listening, and expect more out of me soon.  don't be a stranger.

i hate to admit this even to myself, but i'm too swamped with work and stuff to make a real announcement, and do all the other stuff that goes along with that, so for now it will just silently appear for any of you that have been checking back.

so starts the irreversible countdown to an actual release date.

i know, i know, this is a speck of dust, comparatively insignificant next to almost anything else you can think of, hardly worthy of the space these words take up on the internet (and i hear there isn't much room left... they're finally going to have to start deleting all those jtt fan pages you created and abandoned on geocities in the early 90's).

but still, to me, in my small place in the world, today feels larger than yesterday.

bug lung baby songs are backburnered at the moment in favor of getting some mp under my belt.

i'm thinking finishing a new mp album and a full bug lung baby album by the end of the year is a pretty solid goal. we'll see if me (and my comrades) can make it happen.
